Chicago Grizzlies

Still seeking their first win in franchise history, the Chicago Grizzlies enter the 2026 season with a new roster and renewed optimism. Chicago is headlined by first overall pick Karim Gawad, a top-five player in the world. Their second-round pick, Mazen Hesham, promises to add attacking flair to Chicago, with undeniable upside if his health holds up. Simon Herbert adds another high upside player with a lot of NSL experience under his belt. Herbert joins the only returning player on the Grizzlies, Sam Todd, to form a young English duo that should develop nicely for Chicago. The talented additions don’t stop there. Karim El Torkey and Yassin Elshafei (21 and 24, respectively) add young pieces to Chicago who can grow with the franchise. It hasn’t been smooth sailing for this Chicago team, but make no mistake: they’re hungry to change the narrative and have the talent to do so.

University Club of Chicago

The Windy City is adding professional squash to its already rich team sports culture. Home of the Bulls, Bears, Blackhawks, Cubs, and White Sox, Chicago has a history of excellence across the major sports and the Grizzlies will have high expectations from the get go. Although this will be Chicago’s first venture into the professional squash world in a team setting, the city is no stranger to the sport. Chicago’s Union Station played host to the PSA World Championships in 2023, which boasted a record prize fund of over 1 million dollars split between the men and women. Additionally, the Windy City Open has been a mainstay on the PSA World Tour and has been one of the larger events on the calendar for years. The Grizzlies are based out of the University Club in downtown Chicago, one of the city’s oldest institutions founded in 1887.
